Altered Book Page - Faith, Love, Hope

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Cor. 13:13

I used my book background and added a few digital embellishments for this one.

Looking Ahead - 2013

Looking Ahead to Good Things in 2013

The beginning of a new year is always exciting - something about the freshness, the promise of a new start, throwing off the failures of the past and looking toward the future with hope. This year is no different for me. I haven't made any New Year's Resolutions in quite a few years, but this year, I decided to make a few!

Health Resolutions - Lose weight, exercise regularly and focus on myself more, so that I can accomplish these two things.

Art Resolutions - take one or two online courses, make art regularly,

Family and Faith resolutions - "Devotion" is my "one little word" for this year. I want to increase my devotion to God and to my family. I want to treasure each and every moment with them. This year promises to be a big year of change, and I don't want to squander even one opportunity to show devotion to each member of my family and to God.

Getting Wet

This is a quote that I read today on a beautiful ripple effect.

Quoted No. 21

As I pondered this quote and thought about it in terms of the scriptures I read this morning, it helped me to become more peaceful about my husband's upcoming surgery. While I recognize that we are going to "get wet", I know that God is in control and will be with us to walk with us through this trial. I just need to resolve to walk through it and know that, even though we are going to get wet, we will come out on the other side better and stronger.  The Lord reigns!

Psalm 99

The Lord reigns,
    let the nations tremble;
he sits enthroned between the cherubim,
    let the earth shake.

What I Am Reading Right Now

One of my lifelong habits is to read when I go to bed. Naturally, I can't just read one book at a time. I get too bored. I have several on my night stand and I just pick up the one that calls loudest to me at the time. So here is the short list:

A Case for Faith by Lee Strobel for the second time. This time I am reading it slowly and trying to soak in all that he has to say. Fascinating book.
 Next is Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. My first time ever through this book, believe it or not.
 Next is my Bible study. Soaking this one in, as well.
 And just for fun, The Art of Racing in the Rain bu Garth Stein. This one comes highly recommended to me by a good friend.
So there you have it - my current reading list.
