Glam Girl Using Printmaking Unleashed Techniques
While I was participating in Traci Bautista's Printmaking Unleashed 30 day event, I did a lot of work on a bigger sheet and decided to do a Glam Girl over the top, ala Doodling Unleashed. I used a background I started two years ago when I took her Strathmore online class and started to add to it. I used stencils, spray paint and spray ink, found printing tools, markers, puffy paint, acrylic paint and more. So many things going on here. The flowers in her hair are decoupaged from deli paper print cut outs. I think she turned out pretty well. The photo doesn't show up well, but there are highlights using a metallic gold pen throughout her hair. It really shines in the light. Now all I need is a girly-girl granddaughter to give it to ;)
I am joining in Pink Saturday over at Beverly's place How Sweet the Sound today.

English Garden Art Journal Page for Round Robin
This is the original mock-up in my own book for the current altered book round-robin I am participating in. I wanted to try a mono-chromatic look, which is also a prompt from The Documented Life Project, found here, which is another challenge I am participating in.
To make the background, I gessoed the page, then scraped two colors of pink acrylic craft paint onto the page with a credit card. Then I stenciled the flowers with white gesso. I stamped various flowers onto the page in varying colors of pink. Then I went over some of the flowers with texture paint, puffy paint or glitter glue. Then I stamped the title and outlined the letters in a darker pink pen. I did put a little green on for the flower stems and leaves. My dear husband pointed out that it really wasn't monochromatic, then. Oh well. It's my first try. I also tried shading some of the flowers and stems, but I wasn't particularly happy with how it turned out, so I abandoned that for the final version.
This is the final version of the book. The book theme I am working in this month is "An English Garden" and will eventually wing its way back to England to its owner. I have one more spread to do for her before I mail the book on to the next participant.

Birthday Bracelet - Pink Saturday
I bought myself a birthday present - a handmade pearl bracelet. The artist is from Washington D.C. and made it to look like cherry blossoms. I splurged, but it is beautiful.
I am linking up with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday. Autumn is in full swing here in Michigan. Not a lot of pinks around - reds, oranges, yellows and greens. So if you are feeling the need for a little pink today, skip over to Beverly's Blog and enjoy the pinks!

Mackinac Pinks
We made a trip to Mackinac Island for a day and while there I took a few photos of pinks that I saw along the way. I will be linking up with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday, so take a few minutes to drop over and visit some wonderful pinkie bloggers!
Our first stop was at the coffee shop, The Beanery, where my daughter's friend works. I must say she made a wonderful mocha for me! One of the best I've had!
Then we rented bikes and rode around the island. I just love, love doing that. The island does not allow cars, so it is a most beautiful and relaxing ride. You just have to avoid the occasional horse droppings!
And the last thing before we left was to drool over the fudge!
Last week, I highlighted one of my favorite blogs, but never had time to go visiting for Pink Saturday, so I will try again. If you'd love to see a wonderful, art-filled, inspirational blog, stop over to visit Pat at The Artful Diva. She is great to share techniques and tutorials that I have learned so much from.
So, everyone, Think Pink! And head over to Beverly's to enjoy more pink finery! Happy Pink Saturday!

Real Men Wear Pink
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought I would post one of my favorite pictures of my hubby and two of our friends. They always don pink hats to hide the Easter eggs for the little ones. But I thought I would also be a good tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness.
And I am here to tell you, these three are the real deal - great men and great husbands!
And here are three Pink Ladies that I borrowed from Vintage Catnip to help us celebrate Pink Saturday and the day before Halloween. : ) She has the loveliest free clipart.
If you would like to see more Pink posts, head on over to Beverly's place at How Sweet the Sound to find other links.

A Charming Home Give-Away
I visited a lovely blog today as part of Pink Saturday. She is a fellow Michigander. She has made a beautiful pink bracelet in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is hosting a give-away. All you need to do to enter is to post a comment on her blog and post about it on your own blog. Then you will be entered into the drawing. It is a generous way to help increase awareness about Breast Cancer, plus she has a wonderful blog to browse. So hop on over there and enter!
