"Maps Gone Steampunk" Altered Book Swap

I've been very busy making art over this time I've been off, mostly focused on the Christmas season, but I want to post pictures of my Steampunk book made as a page swap. Here are a few pictures. Will post the rest later.

Background Page for Dec. 1

There was a "Create a Background" challenge on the Altered Book Facebook page, so I decided to create one for the beginning of my "December" Altered Book. I plan to do a sort-of "December Daily" although it will be done altered book style. I had fun with this one and it got pretty messy - the best part! I used a decoupaged napkin, scraped paint, stencils and paint, spray inks, washi tape and more. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this through the month of December.

Junque Journal #2 Pages

These are a few pages from my second homemade smash book or glue book, lovingly called a Junque Journal. I take a marble composition book and use it to alter into a journal where I glue ephemera and memorabilia from daily life. I learned the technique from a You-tube tutorial by Tangie Baxter .

This is a fun spread I worked on earlier in the year and ended up adding some additional touches to it to give it more pizazz. Lots of goodies on the page - paint, stenciling, doodling, washi tape, ribbon, photos and cut-outs.

"House" Themed Tags for No. 8 Tag Swap

These are the latest tags from the No. 8 Tag Round Robin. This has been such a fun swap for me. I have not ever done tags before. Since it is October and almost Halloween, I did one of the tags in a Halloween theme. We were challenged to use some of our favorite papers and to be creative and come up with different roof lines for our tags. I primarily added a chimney to one style that had already been done.

Homemade Smashbook Pages

I make my own "smash-book" type journals (sometimes called Junk Journals) out of composition notebooks using leftover scrapbook paper, memorabilia, ephemera, stamps, ink, really everything but the kitchen sink. Here are a few completed pages.

"Alice in Wonderland Halloween" Altered Book Pages

These are two duplicate altered book spreads that I made for an altered book round robin. One was done as a mock-up for the one I made for another participant's book - her theme was "Vintage Halloween". I found this piece of scrapbook paper with Alice on it that I used as my inspiration piece and cut the image out for the focal point.  I used paint scraping, rubber stamping, paper cut-outs and ink splotches to do the background. All in all, it's very spooky, don't you think?

Les Deux Vagabonds Altered Book Page

I had a chance over the weekend to work on my altered book. The focal piece is an image I printed out onto a page in a French book. I have been saving it to use, and finally found the right ideas to put it onto the page. I may not be finished, but here it is for now.

These tags are the ones I just completed for part of the tag round robin. These are for Mary. Her theme is "vintage beach beauties". This is my first tag swap, and it has been lots of fun so far.

Glue Book Junk Journal Page - Gray

I have been using composition books over the last two or three years for glue book/junk journal notebooks. I realized I haven't posted any pictures from them. This one was made with the color theme "gray". It is a homemade "smash" book of sorts. The owl is a drawing I made from a photo in a magazine.. I then just glued it into my book.
